Bauknight Insurance has been in business for a long time on the West Coast of Florida. Initially my father started an agency in St. Petersburg Florida, sold it and moved to Weeki Wachee, Florida in 1980. He opened a small office in Hudson and I joined his agency around 1983, fresh from college with a baby on the way. Soon I opened my own agency in Spring Hill, serving all of Hernando and Citrus County with low rates for auto and homeowner insurance, and major companies through the years such as Mercury, Progressive, GMAC, Southern Guaranty, Hartford, A Geico subsidiary called Southern Heritage, AIG Insurance, and many others.

13 years ago my father retired and I bought his agency from him and he lived out his remaining years thankfully not seeing the collapse of the Insurance market on the West Coast of Florida. During multi-decades of being in business in Pasco and Hernando counties, we have seen our clients through floods, tornadoes, the terrible no-name storm, multiple hurricanes, fires, and every conceivable loss imaginable. We have acted in times of tragedy as adjusters, measuring roofs and writing checks to clients on the spot when we were able. We have also endured the sinkhole epidemic and watched as tens of thousands of clients in this region of Florida have been non-renewed due to the poor market conditions in Florida and the unique problems of this area.

This blog will attempt to provide information, news, and commentary about being an Insurance Consumer in this region of Florida and about issues that effect you and effect your agent. We welcome not just our thousands of clients but all insurance consumers to folow our blog and comment when they feel compelled.

I hope these posts are informative and helpful. I am not an apologist for the Insurance Industry, nor am I here to criticize everything the Insurance Companies do. We have all had it pretty hard in Florida, from the Insurance Consumer to the agent to the Insurance Companies.
